Basketball Game Preview: Granada Bobcats vs. Wiley Panthers

Granada and Wiley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Granada Bobcats challenge the Wiley Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Granada will be strutting in after a victory while Wiley will be coming in after a loss.

Last Saturday, Granada took their game with ease, bagging a 61-19 win over Manzanola. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Granada.

Maddox Coleman was nothing short of spectacular: he almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Fernando Cadena was another key player, going 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Coleman wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Granada was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Wiley suffered their closest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Cheraw by a score of 42-40. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wiley fell to 2-1. As for Granada, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Granada was able to grind out a solid victory over Wiley when the teams last played back in January, winning 43-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granada since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
