Baseball Recap: Fort Bend Willowridge Takes a Loss

Fort Bend Willowridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Royal Falcons, falling 19-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-9 last Tuesday.

Christian Cardenas and Angel Vasquez did some serious damage despite the final result: Cardenas scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Vasquez scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, Vasquez is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Geovanni Gonzales also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Fort Bend Willowridge's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Royal, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4-1.

Fort Bend Willowridge will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on La Marque at 6:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Royal, they will head out to challenge Almeta Crawford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
