Basketball Recap: Block Island Comes Up Short

Block Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Scituate Spartans, falling 71-41. One positive for Block Island, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Scituate's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Larsh, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave Larsh a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Vigeant, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 19 points and four steals.

Block Island's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Scituate, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Block Island has already played their next matchup, a 57-16 defeat against Providence Country Day on the 3rd. As for Scituate, they will venture away from home to challenge Blackstone Valley Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Scituate is facing Blackstone Valley Prep at the right time seeing as Blackstone Valley Prep is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
