Basketball Recap: Denbigh Comes Up Short

Denbigh was the 52-48 winner over Churchland when they last played one another back in February of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Denbigh Patriots opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-46 defeat to the Churchland Truckers. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Truckers are ranked 23rd).

Denbigh has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Churchland, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denbigh will face off against Kecoughtan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Churchland, they will challenge Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
