Baseball Game Preview: Ocean Springs Greyhounds vs. Pascagoula Panthers

The Ocean Springs Greyhounds will head out to challenge the Pascagoula Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ocean Springs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Pascagoula's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ocean Springs fell victim to West Lauderdale and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Greyhounds were not able to get on the board.

Ocean Springs got a good showing from Patterson Gilfoil, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Meanwhile, Pascagoula fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Gautier on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 12-8 to the Gators. One positive for the Panthers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Pascagoula, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ocean Springs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pascagoula struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts.
