Softball Recap: Peotone Comes Up Short

Peotone might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Herscher who claimed the real prize. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 7-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Peotone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mary Klawitter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Payton Schnelle was another, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Peotone's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Herscher, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Peotone will venture away from home to face off against Chicago Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Herscher, they will welcome Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
