Baseball Recap: Harnett Central Victorious

Harnett Central was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Overhills Jaguars. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Jaguars on Tuesday, they had to take a 9-1 loss.

Harnett Central got a great performance from Luke Wallace as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts Wallace has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Wesley Barefoot was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Harnett Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Overhills, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Looking ahead, Harnett Central will take on Arendell Parrott Academy in a tournament on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Overhills, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against South View on the 19th.
