Basketball Recap: Organ Mountain Knights vs. Las Cruces Bulldawgs
Organ Mountain lost against Las Cruces back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Organ Mountain Knights came up short against the Las Cruces Bulldawgs, falling 57-35. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cambria Harris, who posted six points. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Martinez, who earned seven points.
Even though they lost, Organ Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Cruces only four offensive boards.
Bethzy Quinones was her usual excellent self, going 11-for-14 on her way to 25 points and eight steals for Las Cruces. Thanks to that strong game, Quinones now owns an excellent 46.4% shooting accuracy. Sofia Herrera was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals.
Organ Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Las Cruces, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Organ Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-39 loss against Centennial on the 17th. As for Las Cruces, they have also already played their next game, a 58-22 win against Alamogordo on the 17th.
