Basketball Game Preview: Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots vs. Forsyth Home Educators Hawks

Surry HomeSchool hasn't had much luck against Forsyth Home Educators recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks at 12:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Surry HomeSchool is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-52 heartbreaker at the hands of NC H. While losing is never fun, the Runnin' Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while the Heat are ranked 299th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Heath Clark, who posted 21 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Butcher, who had 18 points.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Forsyth Home Educators can now relate to. They fell 65-55 to the Knights on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Surry HomeSchool will have to keep a close watch on Baylin Clodfelter and Dawson Smith, a pair of players who had a big impact on Forsyth Home Educators' prior game. Clodfelter went 8-for-16 on his way to 20 points and four steals, while Smith went 9-for-15 to rack up 21 points. Clodfelter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Petusky, who put up ten points.

Surry HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 9-25. As for Forsyth Home Educators, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.

Surry HomeSchool came up short against Forsyth Home Educators when the teams last played back in January, falling 76-64. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clodfelter, who went 14-for-22 en route to 38 points along with five boards and three steals.
