Basketball Recap: Mansfield Timberview Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Mansfield Timberview won against South Grand Prairie last Saturday with 59 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Mansfield Timberview Wolves managed a 59-54 victory over the Lamar Vikings. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Vikings are ranked 611th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lamar lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dearmondrae Batie, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Ke'Dren Washington, who posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Mansfield Timberview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Lamar, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mansfield Timberview will take on Joshua in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on December 17th at. Mansfield Timberview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Joshua likes a good challenge. As for Lamar, they will face off against Colleyville Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is facing Colleyville Heritage at the right time seeing as Colleyville Heritage is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
