Basketball Recap: Mountain View Skates Past Caldwell with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Mountain View on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Caldwell Cougars out of the water with an 80-30 final score. With the Mavericks ahead 42-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Starnes, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Harris, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Starnes wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Mountain View was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Mountain View, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Caldwell, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will venture away from home to challenge Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Caldwell, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Caldwell Cougars challenge the Ontario Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Caldwell is facing Ontario at the right time seeing as Ontario is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
