Basketball Game Preview: Normandy Invaders vs. Bay Rockets

The Normandy Invaders will venture away from home to face off against the Bay Rockets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Normandy easily dispatched Lincoln West on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Invaders fell just short of Valley Forge by a score of 41-38 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 67-52 bruising from Avon. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Eagles are ranked 101st).

Normandy will have to contain Ryan Miller as he made an impact in Bay's last game. He shot 53% from the field on his way to 20 points. The matchup was Miller's third in a row with at least 17 points. Emmitt Naughton was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points.

Bay's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Normandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Normandy strolled past Bay in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Invaders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
