Baseball Recap: Union City Triumphs

Union City proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Canute Trojans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 21st.

Aiden Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Union City's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Union City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Canute, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union City will venture away from home to take on Okarche at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Canute, they will head out to challenge Leedey at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
