Baseball Recap: Bardstown Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bardstown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hart County Raiders, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.

Bardstown's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Nalley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Nalley is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-15-1 when he doesn't). Another was Colton Metcalfe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bardstown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-16-1 record this season. As for Hart County, their loss dropped their record down to 17-20-1.

Coming up, Bardstown will take on Anderson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak. Hart County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
