Basketball Recap: Comer Takes a Loss

Comer had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-10 to make it five. They were dealt a 91-33 defeat at the hands of the Midfield Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Patriots are ranked 65th).

As for Midfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points over those games.

Jaylen King was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 steals. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 44% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Earnest Alexander, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 12 points and four steals.

Comer has already played their next matchup, a 67-59 loss against Altamont on the 16th. As for Midfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-50 defeat against Childersburg on the 16th.
