Softball Recap: Washington County Takes a Loss

Washington County entered their match against Excel on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Washington County Bulldogs fell just short of the Excel Panthers by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 last Monday.

Allie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits.

At the plate, Washington County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Turner, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Turner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Sadie Thornton also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Excel, their record is now 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington County will host Fruitdale at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Fruitdale will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Excel, they will welcome Blacksher at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
