Basketball Game Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Yoakum Bulldogs

Edna and Yoakum are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Edna Cowboys will take on the Yoakum Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Yoakum took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Edna, who comes in off a win.

Edna took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed by Rice Consolidated to the tune of 65-24. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Raiders are ranked 1473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Yoakum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 46-32 fall against Industrial.

Edna's win bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Yoakum, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Edna took their victory against Yoakum in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 63-38. Will Edna repeat their success, or does Yoakum have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
