Baseball Game Preview: Bellmont Braves vs. Mississinewa Indians

The Bellmont Braves will take on the Mississinewa Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellmont will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bellmont and Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, and Bellmont kept the tradition alive. The Braves put the hurt on the Cadets with a sharp 10-2 win on Saturday.

Oliver Werling was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Friedt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mississinewa might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Maconaquah who claimed the real prize. The Indians fell just short of the Braves by a score of 8-7.

Kellen Rock was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mississinewa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't).

Mississinewa's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Bellmont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Bellmont took their win against Mississinewa when the teams last played back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
