Washingtonville is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Minisink Valley a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Washingtonville Wizards will be playing at home against the Minisink Valley Warriors at 4:15 p.m. Washingtonville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Washingtonville lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Warwick, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Wizards put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 17-9 victory on Friday. Considering the Wizards have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Tesseyman made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Washingtonville is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise. Tesseyman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Washingtonville got a massive performance out of Andrew Dempsey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Dempsey has become a key player for the Wizards: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 2-4 otherwise. Omar Puello was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Washingtonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Minisink Valley earned a 6-2 win over Cornwall Central on Wednesday.
Like Washingtonville, Minisink Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Christopher McCauley. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. McCauley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season.
McCauley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nik Marrero, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Washingtonville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Minisink Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Washingtonville was able to grind out a solid win over Minisink Valley in their previous matchup back in April, winning 15-11. Will the Wizards repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
