The Kalama Chinooks will square off against the Castle Rock Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Kalama's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Castle Rock has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Kalama came up short against Toutle Lake on Monday, falling 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-18, 25-15, 25-18.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Avery Staup, who had 11 digs.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Castle Rock and Columbia, and Columbia kept the tradition alive. The Rockets lost 3-0 to the Bruins on Thursday.
Castle Rock was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.
Kalama will have to keep a close watch on Ellie Foster and Tenley Spencer, a pair of players who had a big impact on Castle Rock's prior game. Foster had 23 digs and one assist, while Spencer had 15 digs. Foster is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Kalama's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Castle Rock, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Kalama has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Castle Rock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
