Two dominant backs in Omarion Starnes and Dk Woods are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Pearl-Cohn Firebirds will be playing at home against the Crockett County Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pearl-Cohn's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last six games.

Pearl-Cohn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Battle Creek 70-7. That 63 point margin sets a new team best for the Firebirds this season.

Pearl-Cohn found their leader in sophomore CA'MAURI BELL, who rushed for 83 yards and one score on only six carries, and also threw for 90 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight passes. Another player making a difference was LJ FUNK, who threw for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Pearl-Cohn, racking up 19 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of LANDAN LEFT, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Pearl-Cohn's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Crockett County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cougars 28-26. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Cougars are ranked 153rd).

Crockett County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Squirt Pickens led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Jake Knox is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Crockett County got some further help from Amarion Hobson: he picked up a sack, made 12 total tackles, and defended one pass.

Pearl-Cohn's record is now 7-4. As for Crockett County, their record now sits at 9-2.
