The Springfield Township Spartans will take on the Upper Moreland Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Springfield Township sitting on three straight victories and Upper Moreland on 11.
Springfield Township gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on New Hope-Solebury with a sharp 12-3 win. With that victory, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Max May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mike Capoferri was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matthew Sokel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Springfield Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Upper Moreland got themselves on the board against Lower Moreland on Thursday, but Lower Moreland never followed suit. They blew past the Lions 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jackson Townsend was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Mason Loew also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Upper Moreland's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Springfield Township, their record is now 10-2.
Springfield Township skirted past Upper Moreland 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
