Basketball Recap: Scotland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Scotland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lee County Yellow Jackets 51-49. The Fighting Scots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellow Jackets, too.

Scotland found their leader in sophomore Jerrison Dixon, who went 6 for 12 en route to 22 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dajuan Gibson, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Scotland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 31 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Lee County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mj Sanders, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points. Nick Farrow was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Scotland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Lee County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Scotland will take on Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Richmond will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Scotland surely won't give up without a fight. Lee County has already played their next match (against Southern Lee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
