Baseball Recap: Weaver's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cedar Bluff, Weaver was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Randolph County Tigers. The game was the first time the Bearcats have beaten the Tigers on their field since March 19, 2019.

Tucker Michaels was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Landon Free was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Weaver is undefeated when Free posts two or more runs, but 4-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Hise, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Weaver always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randolph County only posted an OBP of .353.

With the victory, Weaver broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-14. As for Randolph County, their defeat was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Weaver will have a chance to go back-to-back against Randolph County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
