Basketball Recap: Khiana Tyler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Joliet West over Oswego East

Joliet West was the 65-44 winner over Oswego East when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Joliet West Tigers fell 62-52 to the Oswego East Wolves on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Wolves are ranked 138th).

Joliet West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Khiana Tyler, who posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Tyler a new career-high. Makayla J Chism was another key player, putting up ten points.

Joliet West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Oswego East, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Joliet West will welcome Joliet Central at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Joliet West is facing Joliet Central at the right time seeing as Joliet Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Oswego East, they will face off against Minooka at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oswego East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Minooka likes a good challenge.
