Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Fletcher

There's no place like home for Fletcher, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles by a score of 63-53 on Friday. This was payback for the Senators, who suffered a 48-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

Fletcher got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jasmine Cross out in front who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mikiah Sloan, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Fletcher was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Despite the defeat, Paxon School For Advanced Studies saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caelyn Carter went 9 for 22 on her way to 23 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 43.4% of Paxon School For Advanced Studies' points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeghan Hicks, who had six points and eight steals.

Fletcher's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.

Fletcher and ED White will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-51 defeat against Spruce Creek on the 21st.
