Basketball Recap: Oasis Christian Comes Up Short

Oasis Christian lost against Lake Gibson back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oasis Christian Lions took a blow against the Lake Gibson Braves, falling 65-35. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Oasis Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raileigh Moates posted 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Moates. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Roberts, who earned nine points.

Lake Gibson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shania Benjamin out in front who had 29 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Benjamin has scored at least a third of Lake Gibson's points. Grace Hough was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Oasis Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Lake Gibson, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 4-11 record.

When Oasis Christian and Lake Gibson next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Oasis Christian will face off against Bayshore Christian and their five-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lake Gibson will try to stop Mulberry's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
