Softball Recap: Saranac Takes Down Northeastern Clinton in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Saranac walked away with it. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three games in a row.

Abby Owen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Recore, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Saranac's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Northeastern Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Coming up, Saranac will square off against Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Northeastern Clinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
