Cheyenne gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They never let the Valley Vikings get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Desert Shields in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Raider Campos was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Cheyenne got a big performance out of Esai Esparza, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most stolen bases Esparza has posted since back in March of 2024. Tapa Gamoras was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
