Softball Recap: Cuthbertson Has No Trouble Against Hopewell

It's playoff time, and Cuthbertson had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Hopewell Titans on Tuesday as they made off with a 14-2 win. The contest marked the Cavaliers' most dominant victory of the season.

Gabby Martens and Caroline Petroff did most of the damage at the plate: Martens went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Petroff went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most stolen bases Martens has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristine Dipiazza, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Cuthbertson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cuthbertson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hopewell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

As of now, neither Cuthbertson nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
