Volleyball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Marymount

Sunrise Mountain is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Marymount. The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sailors. It was the first time this season that the Mustangs let down their fans at home.

Sunrise Mountain was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marymount work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-19.

Addison Wiemann paced Sunrise Mountain's offense, picking up 11 kills. Wiemann got some help from Lily Rolfes and her 17 assists. Brooklyn Jenkins controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Sunrise Mountain suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 15-3. As for Marymount, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-2 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Bishop Gorman on the 27th. As for Marymount, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Mater Dei on the 27th.
