Softball Recap: Casey County Takes a Loss

If Casey County was riding high fresh off their 11-5 takedown of Grant County on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels fell just short of the Muhlenberg County Mustangs by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.

Harmony Meece/Richardson put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addie Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Annabeth Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

Casey County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Muhlenberg County, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Casey County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Gallatin County on the 9th. As for Muhlenberg County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-9 victory against Owensboro Catholic on the 9th.
