Baseball Recap: Calaveras' Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Calaveras came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Summerville Bears by a score of 9-6 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Red Hawks: when they faced off against the Bears on Tuesday, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Kaeden Hudson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Douglas Jones and Mason Wehling did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Wehling went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Wehling has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cooper Kancianich, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Calaveras kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Calaveras' victory bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Summerville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11-1.

Coming up, Calaveras will face off against Riverbank at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Summerville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Linden at 3:30 p.m. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
