Baseball Game Preview: Indian Rocks Christian Eagles vs. Shorecrest Prep Chargers

The Indian Rocks Christian Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Shorecrest Prep Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, Indian Rocks Christian came up short against Palm Harbor University and fell 9-4.

Hayden Perez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cooper Ryan was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep hadn't done well against Clearwater Central Catholic recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Shorecrest Prep narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Clearwater Central Catholic 11-10.

Jake Diner was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Shorecrest Prep is undefeated when Diner posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Jordan Black also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Shorecrest Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Shorecrest Prep's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Indian Rocks Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Indian Rocks Christian skirted past Shorecrest Prep 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Indian Rocks Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
