Baseball Recap: Poth Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Poth barely beat Jay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 6-0 win on Friday. Six seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Braden Arruda, who gave up just five hits to keep Jay off the board.

On the hitting side, Jacob Clark was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Major Luna was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Poth's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jay, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Poth didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Floresville on the 27th. Jay has also already played their next contest (against Fredericksburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
