Basketball Recap: Eastern Triumphs

Eastern won the last time they faced South Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The Musketeers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over the Rebels. Given the Musketeers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Rebels are ranked 237th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Addison Smith was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliza Starrett, who posted eight points and eight boards.

Eastern's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will host Lanesville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Central, they will welcome Paoli at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
