Coventry had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over the Woodstock Academy Centaurs on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won 11 games in a row dating back to last season.

Coventry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reese Jeamel led the charge by going 10-for-15 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds. Those 21 points gave Jeamel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Mayo, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards.

Coming up, Coventry will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Killingly at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Woodstock Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge New London at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
