Recap: Westwood Panthers vs. East Chambers Buccaneers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Westwood Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 35-14 margin over East Chambers. Considering Westwood has won six matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Westwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kavian Bryant, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Jordan Williams was another key contributor, rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown.
East Chambers' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hadyn Reeves, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jarrell Smith, who gained 88 total yards and a touchdown.
Westwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for East Chambers, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Westwood will square off against Lorena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lorena will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. East Chambers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
