Baseball Recap: Northside Christian Academy Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Northside Christian Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 19-2 margin over Palmetto Christian Academy. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with Palmetto Christian Academy: they've now won three in a row.

Logan Gouviea made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Northside Christian Academy let Will Spotts and Grayson Crim run wild. Spotts went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI, while Crim went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave Spotts a new career-high in RBI. Easton McCutchan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
