Basketball Recap: Asheboro Comes Up Short

Asheboro has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Eastern Randolph Wildcats on the road by a 66-50 margin on Friday. The Blue Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastern Randolph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Timothy Brower, who posted 19 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Tyler Gee, who went 6 of 13 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Asheboro suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-3. As for Eastern Randolph, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Asheboro will host Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Oak Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Eastern Randolph, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Eastern Randolph Wildcats challenge the Southwestern Randolph Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
