Basketball Game Preview: Cherokee Braves vs. Swain County Maroon Devils

Cherokee has gone a perfect 10-0 against Swain County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cherokee Braves will welcome the Swain County Maroon Devils at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Cherokee's favor as the team sits on 23 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Swain County has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Last Tuesday, Cherokee blew past Robbinsville, posting a 77-40 win. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 31 points or more this season.

Cherokee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cecily 'Dvdaya' Swimmer, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 16 points and four steals. 'Dvdaya' Swimmer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Aaliyah Rogers was another key player, going 6-for-10 en route to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Cherokee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Swain County lost to Andrews on the road by a 58-41 margin on Tuesday.

Cherokee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48.4 points. As for Swain County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
