Baseball Preview: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Wheatland Pirates
Las Plumas and Wheatland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will face off against the Wheatland Pirates at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Las Plumas took on West Valley on Tuesday. Everything went Las Plumas' way against West Valley as Las Plumas made off with an 8-1 win. The Thunderbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bryson Hutcheson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Las Plumas is 1-0-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Las Plumas' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colton Rosauer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Rosauer has posted since back in April of 2024. Bradley Rowe also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
