Basketball Recap: Kansas City East Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryder Cartwright and Maddox Carrillo

If Kansas City East Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 78-49 takedown of Christ Prep Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kansas City East Christian Academy Lions fell just short of the Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks by a score of 48-45 on Friday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Mavericks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kansas City East Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Maddox Carrillo and Ryder Cartwright. Carrillo posted 15 points along with five boards and three steals, while Cartwright had ten points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Carrillo has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Law, who earned nine points.

Mid-Missouri HomeSchool got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Aulgur out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaden Hayes, who shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points and five assists.

Kansas City East Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-20. As for Mid-Missouri HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-12 record this season.

Kansas City East Christian Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Chrisman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mid-Missouri HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
