Basketball Recap: Stockton Takes a Loss

If Stockton was feeling good fresh off their 57-18 takedown of West Carroll last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Stockton Blackhawks fell just short of the River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats by a score of 42-40 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Blackhawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Stockton still got an impressive performance from Madie Mammoser, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Mammoser is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game.

River Ridge/Scales Mound found their leader in sophomore Campbell Hereau, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Hereau. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Winter, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Stockton's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 16-7. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Stockton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-41 loss against Galena on the 28th. River Ridge/Scales Mound has also already played their next game, a 56-41 win against Warren on the 28th.
