After a string of ten wins, Coal City's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 10-5 to the Plainfield North Tigers. If the Coalers were looking for revenge after losing 14-8 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Coal City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Henline, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.

Coal City's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Plainfield North, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Coal City and Plainfield North should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Coalers will square off against Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (45 vs. 243). Meanwhile, Plainfield North (ranked 23rd) will meet Romeoville (ranked 93rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
