With a playoff win on the line, Newman Catholic rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Northland Lutheran Wildcats as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Fighting Cardinals in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Newman Catholic took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-14, 25-11.

Camille Sobolewski paced Newman Catholic's offense, picking up 16 kills. Sobolewski got some help from Lexi Rice and her 17 assists. Rice also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lauren Thiel, each putting up five.

Newman Catholic's record now sits at 24-16. As for Northland Lutheran, the loss snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

Coming up, Newman Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northland Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
