Lafayette had won four straight games and Brae'Ona Smith did her part to make it five on Wednesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays with plenty of help from Smith, who had 18 digs and one assist. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Lafayette never let St. Edmund on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-23.

Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for St. Edmund, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Coming up, Lafayette will welcome St. Martinville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Edmund, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Episcopal of Acadiana at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
