Recap: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Holly Springs Golden Hawks
The Ashley Screaming Eagle pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 74-59 to Holly Springs. While losing is never fun, Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Holly Springs is ranked 92nd).
Defeat or not, Ashley got some senior leadership from Coen Locklear who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and Forest Newton who scored 13 points. The match was Locklear's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alijah Miller, who scored eight points.
Ashley bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Holly Springs, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
