Football Recap: Julian Medina's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Norco over Centennial

Norco had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-3 to make it four. They fell 59-49 to the Centennial Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Huskies are ranked second).

Norco lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Julian Medina, who threw for 398 yards and six touchdowns, and also rushed for 73 yards on only nine carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 309.7 passing yards per game. Blake Wong was another key player, picking up 219 receiving yards and three scores.

As for Centennial, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games.

It was another big night for Dominick Catalano, who rushed for 55 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 239 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Norco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-7 win against Vista Murrieta on the 30th. As for Centennial, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-29 victory against Chaparral on the 30th.
