Basketball Recap: Simmons Sets Scoring Season-High Against Humphreys County

Simmons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 73-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Humphreys County Cowboys. One positive for the Blue Devils, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Simmons still got an impressive performance from Prentavis Madison, who went 14 of 27 on his way to 31 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Madison is now averaging an impressive 18.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lebron Morris, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Simmons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Humphreys County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from King Scrivens, who posted 18 points. That's the most points Scrivens has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Scotty Bronson, who put up 16 points.

Simmons' loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Humphreys County, they moved to 7-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simmons will take on Leflore County in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Humphreys County and Greenwood will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
